Safety Protocols

RSS reviews and assists research and clinical personnel in designing experimental protocols to ensure radiological safety and regulatory compliance. Reviews include evaluating exposure potentials to prevent, minimize, or eliminate radiological hazards. Safety is accomplished through active and visible support and continuous interaction with research and clinical personnel.

A successful radiation safety program is essential and requires a shared and cooperative effort between RSS and the University community. RSS interprets regulations, consults with regulatory agencies, and works with the University research and clinical community to develop effective programs and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance. Safety practices, procedures, and regulations change continuously in the radiation protection field, and RSS devotes appreciable time reviewing and implementing these changes and ensuring effective implementation in the research and clinical community.
