Emergency Preparedness
Andrew Burchfield - Manager
(615-5781)

The University of Michigan is committed to protecting the safety and security of our community. Emergencies, disasters, accidents, injuries and crimes can occur without warning at any time. We continually review and update our preparedness measures to address evolving threats. Preparedness at Michigan involves collaboration between the leaders in each division and department throughout the University.

The Office of Emergency Management provides resources, guidance, and training of the University community in matters related to emergency preparedness, response, and recovery. The Office of Emergency Management believes in forging partnerships between critical stakeholders and uses diverse strategies to facilitate trust and communication among decision makers.

We want to remind our community that being physically and psychologically prepared to handle unexpected emergencies is an individual as well as an organizational responsibility. It is our hope that you will use this website and its guidelines as a resource to prepare yourself as well as your units. If you have questions or need further assistance, please contact the Office of Emergency Management at emergencymanagement@umich.edu.
