The University of Michigan is committed to preserving the health and safety of its faculty and staff. In support of that commitment, Occupational Safety and Environmental Health (OSEH) provides ergonomic services designed to prevent work-related injuries often referred to as musculoskeletal disorders (MSD), repetitive strain injuries (RSI), and cumulative trauma disorders (CTD.) Through education, training, and on-site assessments we work with employees to reduce and/or eliminate risk factors associated with these disorders.
Recognition of ergonomic risk factors is the first step in eliminating ergonomic injuries. This may be accomplished by review of the Self-Help materials on the OSEH website and by attending Ergonomic Training. If workstation problems are not resolved through the initial steps, then a personalized Workstation Assessment can be conducted by OSEH staff.
This website is designed to guide you through the OSEH Ergonomics Program established at the University of Michigan. The OSEH Guideline provides detailed levels of responsibility and procedures to guide you through the process. Please direct any questions to your OSEH Representative, call our main OSEH line at 647-1143, or send an e-mail to OSEH.
